An Uneven Fight
Against the backdrop of a story about a defunct Prague district, the idea for another sequel to the narrative was born in the author's mind, just as the entire post-war period—through normalisation, the Velvet Revolution, and up to the restoration of democracy in this country—appeared to him as a member of the generation born just after the end of the Second World War. During these recollections, however, certain circumstances also emerged that directly point to the negative trends in social development during this time, a consequence of a poor coming-to-terms with one's own past, a lack of courage and historical memory, or an inability to react rationally to developments in the surrounding world. It quite often serves as a warning that we have been here before and it did not end well. Not that history repeats itself in every detail, but to ignore a certain similarity in the present time is not exactly wise. Perhaps that is why a certain spiral of events weaves through the entire story, which, with good will, can help us not to repeat old mistakes.
