Alois Jirasek: Jan Hus

Radio adaptation of Jirásek's 1952 play directed by Přemysl Pražský. Alois Jirásek refused licences in the interests of dramatic construction, choosing from authentic material to create an intelligible parable. He actualized Hus' connection with the people, the will to democratize education and the right to dispute in the search for truth. He reconstructed the hearings of Jan Hus in Constance with the help of authentic sources and emphasized the conflict between personality and knowledge, which he gained, and between power.
