A dramatic story of a love triangle and power struggles
When the young Czech king Přemysl Otakar II. married the Duchess Margaret of Babenberg, almost thirty years his senior, this diplomatically arranged marriage is considered a mutually beneficial political agreement. However, this only applies until it becomes clear that Margaret will not give the future Czech king an heir. Then the beautiful and educated Agnes of the ancient noble Kuenring family appears on the scene. Her relationship with Přemysl Otakar II. soon grows into a deep love that may threaten Margaret's hitherto privileged position. Against the backdrop of the turbulent political events in 13th century Europe, a dramatic story of a love triangle and power struggles unfolds.
