Adela Ostrolúcka's lover

Adela, the only daughter of Mr. Ostrej Luka, meets an extraordinary man on a visit to her uncle in Zemianské Podhradí. The immensely attractive poet and philosopher Ludevít rebels against the upper class and is therefore considered an outcast. Against her better judgement, Adela falls passionately in love and has to figure out how to get the proud and sarcastic man to come close to her. He believes that if he is forced to spend time with her, he will begin to return her love. Just when it seems that Adele's plan is beginning to succeed, revolution breaks out and the rebellious Ludevit is swept away in a whirlwind that will transform Europe forever. Adela's only brother Gejza will not settle down and the estate on Ostrá Lúka has no heir. Adela, meanwhile, is at an age where she considers herself an old whore and her future prospects are not rosy. Will love of country or love of woman win out for Ludevit? "And you?" He called after her. "What will be the legend of you, Miss Ostrolucka?" "Don't you know?" She replied meekly, like a little girl. "She loved him, he didn't love her, and it broke her heart."
