We don't choose some roles in life
The First World War is over, and the spirit of the Roaring Twenties has captured the hearts of all free-thinking artists. Among them is actress Jarmila Horáková. Outwardly, she appears self-confident, but inside, she hides insecurities that she confides to her diary. With her first loves comes a dilemma – is it possible to get married and devote oneself fully to the theatre? However, a serious illness cuts her dazzling career short just as it was beginning.
Two decades later, actress and writer Olga discovers Jarmila's story through the diary. During the Protectorate, this exceptional fate becomes not only an inspiration for her but also a bridge to freedom, leading far beyond the bleak reality.
