Above the clouds
The book deals with the everyday life of Czechoslovak bomber crews (not only) in Great Britain from the establishment of 311 Squadron to the end of the war. It does not forget combat missions over occupied Europe or over the seas and oceans, yet her focus is more on discovering like pilots, navigators and deck gunners lived, what they ate, how they spent their leisure time and how much or how little they grew to love the island kingdom. Their heroism, so commonplace to most of them, collides with fear and finally with death. The book should show that even in war there is such a thing as everyday life, and that heroism does not always have to be spoken about out loud.
