About true religion

One of Augustine's early works, the treatise On True Religion, is considered to be his first systematic exposition on Christianity and, at the same time, an attempt to respond to ancient concepts of philosophy and religion, which the Bishop of Hippo would critique in greater detail a quarter of a century later in his extensive work The City of God. In addition to attempting to reconcile with ancient culture, these works are linked by their emphasis on the historical economy of God's plan of salvation.
