The ninth step to darkness, entitled Of Love and Other Feelings, takes us to the finale of the series - the darkness itself.
In it, we meet Mary Elizabeth Penn's The Tenant of the Cottage Under the Cedars - in a story that revolves around revenge from beyond the grave. Very little is known about the author, practically only that she published in magazines in the late Victorian period and that her stories fell into obscurity soon after publication. Her ghost stories were only rediscovered in 1999, more than a century after the last of them (1897) was published. Petr Šmíd, William Valerián, Pavel Nový and Jiří Dvořák appear in The Tenant of the Cottage Under the Cedars. Bram Stoker is a much better known figure in the horror genre. Yes, he is the author of the famous novel in letters called Dracula. Here he comes with Dream of the Red Hands, where he elaborates on the immortal theme of crime and punishment and adds an extra touch - redemption. The short but dense Dream of Red Hands (in an earlier translation also Dream of Red Hands) is read by Petr Šmíd.
