About life

Kin-Fo learns that an important investment in America is going bankrupt. He is threatened with bankruptcy and decides to leave this world voluntarily. But he doesn't want to touch his own life. He wants to experience some more excitement. So he takes out a life insurance policy and asks his friend, the old philosopher Wang, to murder him before the policy expires. Jules Verne wrote the story of a young rich Chinese man bored with his own great life. The adventure novel Les tribulations d'un Chinois en Chine was first published in France in 1879. In English translation, the book has been successively published under several titles - A Chinaman's Misadventures in China, A Celestial and His Troubles and Happiness, A Chinaman's Tramps in China and On Life. The novel is part of the series Strange Journeys. The story has been filmed twice. First made in 1931 by the German director Robert Siodmak under the title Der Mann, der seinen Mörder sucht. The second time in 1965 by the French director Philippe de Broca, his film is known as The Man from Hong Kong, starring Jean-Paul Belmondo.
