Abel Sánchez
The story of Cain and Abel was crying out for a modern retelling, and so the writer Miguel de Unamuno sets it in early 20th-century Spain. Joaquín – a modern-day Cain – lives only for his hatred and envy of Abel. His entire personality, behaviour and goals are defined by these traits, and the question is whether he cannot, or will not, escape them.
The text is based on the original translation by Prof. Miloš Ruppeldt.
