A year with a big oak tree

Anna and Benjamin came to visit their cousin Robin at the grove on the edge of the forest. Robin shows them a big oak tree that is 300 years old! It is an ornament of the forest and serves as a shelter for many animals. Children observe how life in the forest changes during the seasons – in spring they watch badgers and colts, in winter they ski around the oak tree. It turns out that the great oak is not only a refuge for animals, but also helps people.

The award-winning Dutch illustrator, a USBBY award winner, faithfully depicts the great oak tree and life in the forest in all seasons. The oak tree is the focus of this book, but every part of the surrounding forest ecosystem is important. The oak tree is a hiding place for children, a home for various animals and a helper for fungi and plants in its surroundings.

Detailed, accurate and informative illustrations will introduce children to the forest and its inhabitants in a playful way and teach them that in the forest one is just a visitor.
