A stranger in Paris
Paris, 1928
After fleeing London for continental Europe, Vita Casey made a new life for herself: She doesn't want to draw attention to herself, so she works as a dresser in a cabaret where her friend Nancy performs with a frivolous dance troupe.
Together they discover the exciting world of wild parties, jazz and drugs. But despite her fun, indulgent lifestyle, Vita longs for a proper career and a return to her dream of designing lingerie.
When she gets the opportunity to work for the famous designer Jenny Sacerdote, Vita jumps at it without a second thought and meets a completely different kind of Parisian society. and soon a romantic relationship blossoms in the most surprising place.
But Nancy, left to her own devices, falls into drug addiction and Vita must save her friend. But can she really trust everyone who offers to help her? After all, there are still people back home in England who wish her bankruptcy and want her to pay for the past she fled. And they don't hesitate to follow her beyond the City of Lights.
The Stranger in Paris is the second part of a historical trilogy, loosely based on the novel The Girl on the Run (Metaphor 2020).
