A. P. Chekhov: The Cherry Orchard (1973)

Chekhov's plays are simple and complex. He presents each character, each situation from several points of view. In this way, it allows us to understand much, to laugh at much, and to dwell on much. Chekhov's plays are both simple and complex, which is why they continue to attract audiences around the world. And they also attract many stagers again and again. Chekhov's story, which revolves around the sale of a neglected farmhouse and the wasted and yet so comical fates of its inhabitants, is also about the essential questions that the modern world asks us. What is beautiful and what is practical, what is useful and what is not, what is deliberation and what is indecision? It tells of strength and world-weariness, of honour and deceit, of awkwardness, of hopes and illusions, of the desire to get along, and also a lot about love.
