Humorous short stories by Ivana Chřibková Dry rag on the bottom of the sea
She couldn't climb. She wanted to be a salesgirl like Aunt Bedřiška with big boobs. She hated the church she had to go to, and she didn't want to take her brother to daycare because he was fat and others had to help her into her stockings. She liked books and didn't understand why others didn't. She had a different clasp on her school briefcase and thought that was the reason they were drawing diamonds in her favorite book.
Short chapters, humorously reflecting what's going on in the village, the hardships of adolescence and the difficult coexistence with parents, who got married purely for the sake of village conventions, however, show, that it's possible to look at life from the cheerier side. Although sometimes you have to wait a while for that moment. What had seemed like fact in her childhood and seemed like a bad dream at fifteen had grown into something worth touching her life for at eighteen. At the very end, however, we find that there are only two perspectives on any problem. And the positive one wins.
