A deadly touch
A random series of mysterious deaths, or a deadly pattern?
The body of a young girl lying face down in a swimming pool - white sneakers still on her feet, auburn hair spread out like a halo - is the last thing Detective Josie Quinn expects when she visits her brother in the morning before classes at Denton University. As he pulls the girl's lifeless body out of the water, he recognises her face, and Josie's mind starts to wander to one disturbing question: How can a champion swimmer accidentally drown?
Nysa Somers was a model student, a beloved daughter and friend who would never do anything reckless to jeopardize her scholarship, let alone her life. Josie and her team must find out what happened in the hours leading up to Nyssa's death and what the mysterious calendar entry means, which says: It's time to become a mermaid.
The next day, a terrible fire engulfs the nearby home of a retired firefighter, nearly killing him and his two granddaughters. The last words the girls heard their grandfather say were: It's time to become a match. Is this really a series of mysterious deaths, or is Josie right when she sees a deadly pattern? Josie knows that if she wants to stop a silent and calculating serial killer before he loses more precious lives, she must confront a threat she never knew existed before...

They wrote about the book:
Anyone who knows me knows that I really like a strong female lead who isn't afraid to go against the flow. That's exactly what I got in Josie Quinn. I'm anxiously awaiting the next serving!

Lisa Regan
Lisa Regan is the author of other crime thrillers in addition to the bestselling Josie Quinn series. She is a member of the writing groups Sisters in Crime, International Thriller Writers, and Mystery Writers of America. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband, daughter and a Boston terrier named Mr. Phillip. She gained worldwide attention with the first installment of the series with investigator Josie Quinn, The Disappearing Girls, in which Josie had to deal with a serial killer and kidnapper who had been on the loose in the area for years. She followed its success with another story, The Girl with No Name, where she had to figure out whether an unknown woman was a witness, a perpetrator, or a future victim. In the third episode, Mother's Grave, Lisa Regan set up a case for her heroine that forced her to revisit her painful past. In the fourth case, Unexpected Confessions, she then presented the detectives with the tricky question of how well they knew the people around them and whether they would stand by their friends even if all indications were that they had killed. The fifth installment in the series, Buried Bones, brings Josie Quinn and her friend and colleague Noah Fraley back into the spotlight. The first victim to unleash a literal killing spree across the county is Colette Fraley - Noah's mom. The sixth case, Silent Cry, also touches Josie. It is about the kidnapping of a seven-year-old girl, whose finding is complicated by the fact that her parents are not telling the detectives the whole truth.
