A. A. S. Pushkin: Mozart and Salieri

A literary-dramatic composition about the tragic end of the Russian Romanticism, using motifs from the lives of both geniuses and Pushkin's Mozart and Salieri. Indeed, parallels can be found between Mozart and Pushkin - genius exercised in the conventional and conservative milieu of the royal court and, at the same time, unrestrained in places where official eyes cannot see. In Pushkin's case, it was also in exile outside the then metropolis of St Petersburg. Pushkin, like Mozart, is the author of monumental works and countless witty, playful and ironic trifles. They both teased the surroundings with their apparent pride, as if they despised their surroundings. For both of them, creation was life itself. Both were buried in secret, without the honours due to them.
