600 Years of Bohosudov (Šejnov)
This Czech-German book is the most extensive Czech-language publication to date on the history of the pilgrimage site of Bohosudov and the mining town of Krupka, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The book is wonderfully illustrated by the Bohosudov painter Josef Bilohlávek and includes a beautiful collection of old Bohosudov postcards in the appendix.
The book is a translation of significant works by Czech Germans, primarily by the Jesuit Josef Knell and the well-known North Bohemian historian Hermann Hallwich. It can also serve as a German textbook, as the reader will always find a transcription of the original German text on the left-hand page and a literal Czech translation on the right. The reader will become acquainted with the mindset of people in times long past, with the local German dialect, and will also discover the
most mysterious corners of the Marian pilgrimage town of Bohosudov, the neighbouring Krupka, and the vanished village of
Kirchlice.
