LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology is the 4th generation of broadband transmission. The technology has seen widespread use over the last few years, and many European countries now have broadband penetration rates over 50% (as of 2015). For optimal performance, LTE users should use a compatible phone/tablet, an appropriate data plan and an LTE SIM card.
Theoretically, data transmission speeds can reach 172.8 Mb/s for downloading and 57.6 Mb/s for uploading – in many cases faster than WiFi. With LTE, images are sent rapidly, pages load instantly, and video buffering is virtually non-existent. With less latency and increased speeds, LTE is truly a step into the future.
