KORG Opsix mk II

KORG Opsix mk II
The Opsix mkII is a digital synthesizer based on the original Opsix synthesizer, but with twice the polyphony, reaching 64 voices. The result is high performance with precise control over all sound shaping parameters. The mix of operators makes FM synthesis accessible and intuitive to use. With additional synthesis and programming options, it offers an efficient workflow for creating unique sounds. The instrument is fully compatible with opsix native sounds, opsix SE and opsix native software, as well as third-party libraries.

Key features of KORG Opsix mkII synthesizer
- Keyboard with 37 dynamics-sensitive keys
- Extended polyphony of 64 voices for complex sound layers
- Altered FM synthesis with 6 operators and 40 algorithms
- Six operator modes including Ring Mod and Wave Folder
- Polyphonic Motion Sequencer with support for parameter automation
- Three independent effect blocks with 30 effect types

Operator control and mix
At the heart of each sound is a mix of operators made up of a combination of six faders and knobs. Each of the six parts is backlit and provides visual feedback: the audio signals are red, while the modulators are blue. The mix section is green. Six flexible controls work in conjunction with the large OLED display, allowing you to quickly edit presets or create sounds from scratch. There is also a built-in spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope for direct visual inspection.

Six Types of Synthesis and Altered FM
The basis of sound generation is the Altered FM architecture, which delivers a wider spectrum than classical FM synthesis. The tool allows to use subtractive synthesis with various types of filters (including MS-20 and Polysix), semi-modular synthesis by changing algorithms without cables, analog modulation, waveshaping for aggressive tones, additive synthesis by layering waveforms and classical FM synthesis with six operators.

Effects and sequencer
The synthesizer has three effect blocks that can be used simultaneously. Each block offers a choice of 30 effects, from standard chorus and delay to specialized shimmer reverbs. The Polyphonic Motion Sequencer allows you to program up to six notes and record automations of up to six parameters. Each audio program can have its own sequence for creating complex rhythmic patterns.

Modulation and other functions
The MOD section works independently of the operators and provides three envelopes, three LFOs and twelve virtual patches. The Randomness function can mix parameters at the touch of a button to create entirely new sounds. The opsix Librarian software allows you to manage sounds via USB. Also included is a selection of music software from KORG and other manufacturers.
