Iconic filter models with their own character
The heart of the KingKORG Neo is its carefully designed filter section, which is one of the most important features in terms of the character of the synthesizer's sound. KingKORG Neo has been equipped with a versatile range of different filter types, each of which can have an impact on your sonic creations. Includes several filter models influenced by classic '70s synths that are ideal for powerful solos and deep bass. The sonic essence of the important polyphonic synthesizers of the 1980s has been captured in custom filter types, and the legendary KORG MS-20 filters are not to be missed in this collection. One of the most impressive features of these filters is their ability to self-oscillate when the resonance is fully dialed in, opening up a whole new range of sonic possibilities from ethereal textures to powerful sounds with strong resonance.
Integrated vocoder
The KingKORG Neo has a balanced XLR input on the control panel and comes with a durable, high-quality microphone. This line-up literally invites you to immerse yourself in the sound worlds that the vocoder opens up. The Vocoder is equipped with a 16-band filter as found in specialized vocoder equipment. This powerful feature allows you to create classic vocoder sounds, but by shifting the filter frequency with Formant Shift and fine-tuning the volume and pan of each individual band, a world of new and unique sounds can be created. The B-timber can be cleverly used as a modulator, i.e. as an alternative to the microphone input, so that the vocoder effect can be seamlessly mixed with the synthesizer sound. In addition, the microphone input can be individually selected as the sound source for each of the three oscillators of sound group A or B, allowing you to mix voice and instrument for particularly creative and innovative sounds.
KingKORG Neo sound options and effects
KingKORG Neo's factory sounds include a selection of 200 stage-ready preset programs for the modern musician. All of these presets are classified into eight categories, such as SYNTH, LEAD and BASS, so they can be found quickly and intuitively in any situation. KingKORG Neo offers a total of three main effect blocks, each with six independent effect types that you can use to further enhance your sounds. The PRE FX block provides effects such as distortion and amp simulation. MOD FX adds classic phaser, chorus and tremolo effects to your sounds. To create surround sounds, the REV/DELAY block provides relevant ambient effects such as hall, plate and mod delay reverbs. Selecting and setting effects is very easy thanks to separate controls for each of these effect blocks.
Advanced sound design features
Thanks to the virtual interconnect system, the KingKORG Neo offers a similarly flexible architecture to classic analogue synthesizers such as the MS-20. This intuitive feature brings the flexibility of physically connecting synthesizers into the digital age. With six virtual patch connections for each timbre, control signals such as EG, LFO or joystick movements can be directed to key audio parameters such as pitch and cutoff frequency. This seamless integration allows for complex modulations and in-depth sound manipulation, adding an extra creative dimension to your music. KingKORG Neo features the versatile step arpeggiator, a tool that brings your sound creations to life by automatically generating arpeggios from the chords you play. Take it a step further and choose from six different arpeggio types to further customize your sound. You can also set the length, interval and on/off state of each individual step, offering a wide range of rhythmic possibilities.
Intuitive controls and popular features
The KingKORG Neo's control panel has been designed to combine the feel of a classic analogue synthesizer with contemporary technology. A sophisticated block-by-block layout that makes it easy to navigate when editing sounds. The oscillator section has its own display that shows the name of the currently selected algorithm. By simply turning the relevant dial you can scroll through the options, read their names on the display, or quickly change the different categories, such as Analogue or DWGS. The rotary control is automatically assigned to the most important parameters of the various oscillators, allowing for seamless real-time adjustment. The control panel also includes three separate controls for each of the three main effect blocks, and the illuminated OLED display makes all important information easy to read at all times. The favourites function allows you to recall frequently used audio programmes at the touch of a button. A total of 40 sound programmes can be assigned to the 8 category buttons as favourites and can therefore be quickly and easily recalled again.
