Under the cover on the bottom of the device, there is a compartment for two 1.5V AA batteries, allowing the stand to function as a docking power station even for inserted devices without batteries. If a wireless battery-powered component is integrated into the stand with batteries, its operating time will be extended by using AA batteries instead of the AAA batteries typically used directly in the device.
