Primalex universal primer 5 l

Primalex Universal Penetrant is a broad spectrum waterborne penetrant with an acrylate-based copolymer active ingredient designed to reduce absorbency and reliably strengthen a variety of substrate building materials in both interior and exterior environments. It also significantly increases the adhesion of topcoats to the substrate. Designed as a primer before application of classic and acrylic dispersion interior coatings and facade paints on mineral substrates and plasters (e.g. lime, lime-cement plaster or concrete). Also suitable for plasterboard and other types of absorbent pressed boards.

Preparation of the substrate

Thoroughly cover all surfaces and equipment that are not to be soiled. Surfaces to be primed must generally be solid, dry, clean, free of impurities, waxes, grease and penetration of repellent particles. It is primarily recommended for full surface or topical penetration on: New mineral bases for interiors and facades - (lime and lime-cement plasters; concrete) - must be sufficiently hardened and dry, mature min. 4 weeks. Plasterboards, plasterboards - sand and clean the cemented areas and any protrusions on the surface. In the case of large-scale substrate preparation (where partial, related substrates of a basic nature occur) or in the case of simultaneous preparation of a local substrate, the following can also be used: Older solid mineral substrates, interior and exterior - Wash off original, chalking paint or otherwise contaminated surfaces (for facades, with a high-pressure cleaner). When repairing cracks, it is necessary to perfectly remove any peeling old paint in their vicinity. Larger cracks should be repaired with a suitable acrylic sealant. Let everything harden (mature). Incohesive layers of interior or facade dispersion paints (incl. cracks and significant plaster defects) - Remove non-adhesive coatings or parts of them without residue by sanding, brushing, scraping or scraping. by a stream of pressurised water. After wet cleaning, allow the surfaces to dry sufficiently before further treatment. Masonry repairs (e.g. in the case of more extensive plaster loss) in the classic way, larger cracks should be repaired with a suitable acrylic sealant (masonry must be mature min. 4 weeks). Contaminated substrates (e.g. infested with mould, algae or otherwise contaminated) - Apply Primalex Mykostop Cleaner to the infested surfaces and leave to work according to the product instructions. Remove any residual mould/fungus by mechanical wet removal (washing, wiping, scraping). Allow the surfaces to dry sufficiently. In this case, use an Antifungal (fungicide) primer (according to the instructions for use). Then apply the final coating with the addition of Primalex Mykostop prevention (according to the product instructions). For common defects and surface damage, follow the same procedure for substrate preparation as specified in the Primalex Polar White Technical Data Sheet.

Penetration preparation and application

Due to the content of sedimenting micropigments, the penetration in the packaging should be mixed thoroughly before and during application. Calculate the required amount of penetration from the area of each plot and the average yield data. Apply Primalex Universal Penetration evenly to properly prepared substrates at temperatures between 5 and 25 °C and at humidity levels of >30% and <80% (for facades under suitable microclimatic conditions, i.e. do not paint in strong sunlight (or shade the facade), in the rain, strong wind or humidity >80%), usually in 1 layer (in the case of, that the substrate is not perfectly hardened after the primer has dried, Repeat the coating - at intervals of about 4 hours) with a paint brush or roller to obtain the required surface quality. The penetration must soak into the substrate and not leave a glossy film on the surface, so it is advisable to carry out a practical test on a selected small area. In the case of large colour differences in the substrate, a small amount (up to 10%) of primer can be added to Primalex Universal Primer to be used for painting. After drying, the smooth primed surface can be lightly sanded with 150-180 grit sandpaper to remove any unwanted particles that may have appeared on the surface during priming. The coating can be applied after the primer has dried, i.e. after approx. 4 - 12 hrs. It is necessary to wash the drips and soiled aids with water before drying.

Storage:
Store at temperature5 °C to 35 °C. It must not freeze. When stored in the prescribed manner in a sealed container, the product retains its useful properties at least until the date indicated on the packaging (i.e. 36 months).
Colour:
Milky when wet, transparent when dry (the blue colour is used to signal an already primed substrate)
Drying time:
Penetration is dry to the touch after about 2 hours. The next layer can be applied after 4 hours at the earliest (data valid for one layer of primer at 20 °C, relative humidity 50%). Lowering the temperature or increasing the humidity can increase drying times.
Safety Alert:
Do not eat, drink or smoke when working with Primalex Universal Penetrator. It is advisable to protect your eyes with goggles with side shields and ensure ventilation of the room. Rinse mouth with water if swallowed. If the eyes are affected, flush them with a stream of water. Seek medical attention if you have persistent problems. After washing, treat the skin with a regenerating cream. P101 - If medical attention is required, keep the product packaging or label handy. P102 - Keep out of reach of children. It contains a reaction mixture: 5-chloro-2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [EC No. 247-500-7]; 2-methylisothiazol-3(2H)-one [EC No 220-239-6] (3:1). May produce an allergic reaction. IIA/h maximum threshold for VOC content is 30 g/l (2010); this product contains a maximum of 10 g/l VOC in the ready-to-use state. The unused primer (if not diluted with water) can be stored in a well-sealed container for future use. When stored in the prescribed manner in closed packaging, the product retains its useful properties at least until the date indicated on the packaging. Dispose of contents and packaging in accordance with all local, regional, national and international regulations. If it is necessary to remove the old (original) coatings marked. Primalex follow the recommendations. Use respiratory protective equipment, goggles and ensure good ventilation of the room during removal. Observe basic hygiene rules - do not eat, drink or smoke. Dispose of the residue of the removed product under waste code no. 17 09 04 - Mixed construction and demolition waste other than those mentioned in 170901; 170902; 170903.
