Application:
Clean and degrease the surface. Clean window panes with an alcohol-based cleaner and let them dry. For furniture and laminate, wipe with a damp cloth. First, carefully measure everything out dry, making sure to consider the direction of the pattern for films with a wood-imitation design. You can cut the film with scissors, or for more precision, use a utility knife with a metal straightedge. When applying to larger areas, it is a good idea to moisten the surface with a water sprayer. This does not apply to mirror self-adhesive films, chalkboard films, metallic-imitation wallpapers, and velour wallpapers. Water is ideal for window films and wood-imitation films. Peel off about 10cm of the backing paper and place the adhesive side onto the surface you are covering. Slowly and gradually pull off the backing paper while continuously smoothing the film with a squeegee or sponge. Push out any bubbles to the sides. If the film wrinkles or becomes crooked, carefully peel it back, straighten it by pulling it taut, and reapply. The film has a so-called “bonding timer”, which means you can only make corrections by peeling it off within a few minutes to tens of minutes. After a few hours, the adhesive will bond firmly, and corrections will no longer be possible. If you need to join sections when covering larger areas, an overlap of 5–10mm is recommended. Let the wallpaper hang over the edges and trim it at the very end. When wrapping edges or bends, you can use a hot air gun, which will make the wallpaper more pliable, allowing it to bend and stretch. You need to work carefully to avoid irreversible damage to the film. You can also use a squeegee for smoothing.
