Online features, including GameChat, require an internet connection, Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account. A Nintendo Switch 2 camera or compatible USB-C camera is essential for video functions.

Simply connect the console to a compatible TV and experience all the details in stunning picture quality, supported by HDR, VRR and frame rates up to 120fps on supported TVs. 4K, VRR and HDR resolutions are available in games that support this technology, and the frame rate is limited to 60 frames per second for 4K output. To keep everything running without overheating, the docking station is equipped with a fan,which keeps the system at an optimal temperature and helps stabilize performance even during long periods of play. Connecting to the TV is also simple, compatible TVs will automatically turn on when they detect the system in the dock, and with Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) support, the TV will automatically switch to the correct input. With the Automatic Low Latency Mode (ALLM) feature, you can even let your TV switch to game mode without waiting.
Nintendo Switch 2 game console has a built-in microphone

And to easily check compatibility, just use the Test USB Camera feature in the system settings.
GameChat Open Access Period - Until March 31, 2026, GameChat can be used without a Nintendo Switch Online membership. After that, a Nintendo Switch Online membership will be required to use GameChat.
Compatible SD cards
Nintendo Switch 2 brings a new way to expand storage with advanced microSD Express cards. The new memory card standard, which is sold separately, provides much faster access to data, making games run smoother and more efficiently. With faster data read and write speeds, microSD Express allows users to conveniently store more games, apps and other files without any performance slowdown. It's important to remember that Nintendo Switch 2 is only compatible with microSD Express cards. If you used microSD cards in the previous Nintendo Switch model, these cards will not work with Nintendo Switch 2 as they do not meet the new standard.
