High school student Eisuke Sasaki was found dead with a paper bag with a smiley face over his head. The eerie scene bears a striking resemblance to a recurring motif in a string of unsolved murders from 18 years ago that are associated with the urban legend known as Emio, or The Smiling Man. The serial killer is known for giving his victims "a smile that lasts forever", and his terrifying legacy continues to haunt the city's residents.

Play as a member of a detective agency
Now the question is whether The Smiling Man really exists, or whether a new perpetrator has taken over his gruesome job. As a member of the Utsugi Detective Agency, you will be tasked with investigating the events leading up to the death of Eisuke Sasaki. During your search, you will collect clues and testimonies that may reveal connections to ancient horrors. Your mission is to delve into the mysteries of the past and discover whether The Smiling Man has attacked again or if a new killer has emerged in the dark alleys of the city.
