The first impression of Canon's new PowerShot V1 compact camera is that it's a bit bigger than one would expect from the first product photos. But given the parameters, it's not much more, it's still a device that can literally be called pocketable - and it also has one quite crucial advantage, that it fits great in the hand and is very easy to hold. It's not just about comfort, but also about safety and security, because you really don't have to worry about the device slipping out of your hand - even if you have a big hand, hold it with one hand and still move around. The surface finish with a distinctive, rubberised and non-slip texture also contributes significantly to this. On the other hand, despite the overall robust design, weather resistance is lacking.
