The Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens is a typical representative of the category of basic set zoom lenses and its mechanical design corresponds to this. The whole lens is completely all-plastic, including the Canon RF mount and most likely also including the lenses in the optical system (but this is rather a guess, which cannot be confirmed in any way - the manufacturer does not provide similar information). As a whole, such information may seem negative, but this is very relative, because it can be seen from many perspectives - for example, current plastics are already of very high quality and their use makes the lens extremely lightweight and, last but not least, also cheap (for example, aspherical lenses, if they were glass and ground, would be many times more expensive to produce and thus, of course, the whole lens).
