Advanced security
The integrity of the firmware is checked before any user interaction is permitted. Only genuine Brother firmware can be used. All Brother printing devices are secure by design. The devices automatically detect security attacks and take preventative measures, including restarting (if necessary), to ensure they remain secure. The firmware for Brother printing and scanning devices is digitally signed and secure. Use the default standard self-signed certificate, create a custom self-signed certificate, request a certificate signature (CSR) or use an external public certificate and private key for secure network communication. In addition to enabling automatic updates, the printer can be set to reject older firmware versions to prevent downgrading by an unauthorised user. During an update, the firmware is transferred over a trusted encrypted HTTPS connection.
