Glasses blocking 40% blue light
These glasses block 40% of the blue light spectrum at wavelengths of 380–500nm, making them ideal for daytime computer work. They reduce eye strain and protect your vision. For evening wear (2 hours before sleep), we recommend glasses that block 100% of blue light.
BrainMarket glasses blocking 40% blue light, WHITE
These lightweight glasses filter 40% of blue light at wavelengths of 380–500nm, making them perfect for daytime computer work. The glasses protect your eyes from the light emitted by computer screens, TVs or phones. They relieve eye irritation and subsequent headaches. For evening wear (2 hours before sleep), we recommend glasses that block 100% of blue light. Wearing blue-light-blocking glasses before bed improves your sleep, health (by releasing melatonin) and morning energy levels. Read our article on what melatonin does and how to increase its levels, or why sleep is important and how to work on improving it.
The glasses are packaged in protective film and cardboard to prevent any damage during transport.
The problem with blue light
In today's digital era, few of us can tear our eyes away from screens, whether it is a TV, mobile phone or computer. The increasing use of these electronic devices and LED lighting has brought about new challenges.
- Exposure to blue light from screens before bed disrupts melatonin production and sleep patterns.
- Exposure to blue light can lead to macular degeneration.
- Excessive saturation of blue light can reduce visual acuity and make it harder to focus.
- Blue light has been shown to cause photochemical damage to the retina and macula, causing oxidative stress in the eyes.
- Sleep disorders can lead to depression and an increased risk of illness.
Blue light between 380 and 470nm is considered harmful because it can cause retinal damage and cataracts, and is linked to sleep disorders. However, not all blue light spectra are bad – for example, the spectrum from 470 to 500nm, also known as turquoise-blue light, is generally considered beneficial. This range of visible blue light is useful because it stimulates the natural reflexes that protect the eyes from overexposure, while also supporting cognitive and memory functions in the brain. It also stimulates photosensitive retinal ganglion cells, the pupillary reflex, and controls the circadian cycle.
