The SIXTOL refractometer with automatic temperature compensation is designed primarily to measure the sugar content and specific gravity of beer wort, as well as the sugar content of fruit mash and must. A refractometer measures the refractive index of light to determine the composition of liquid mixtures or the purity of substances. Use this refractometer wherever you need to find the percentage of sugar in beer wort in the range of 0 to 32% Brix, measure the specific gravity of beer wort from 1.000 to 1.120 SG wort, or measure the sugar content of fruit mash, must, fruit juices, and more. The ATC system ensures automatic temperature compensation from 0°C to 30°C, so no calibration is necessary.

Measurement process
Measuring with the refractometer is incredibly simple. Just place 2–3 drops of the liquid onto the angled optical prism, close the prism cover to spread the liquid, and look through the eyepiece towards the light. Focus the eyepiece if necessary, and you can instantly read the sugar level and specific gravity on the scale where the light and dark areas meet.
Brix scale
The Brix scale measures the concentration of dissolved substances (mainly sugar) in fruit, vegetables, juices, cider, soft drinks, beer wort, and similar liquids. % Brix is a universal unit of sugar content relative to sucrose, representing sucrose concentration as a percentage of weight (1% Brix = 1g of sucrose per 100g of liquid).
