Are you a fan of Thrones of Britannia? Then this hand-crafted combat axe is just what you need. This forged one-handed axe has been designed especially for scenic sword fights or for decorative purposes. The axe has been forged and is very well-balanced. The handle is made of ash wood. The Vikings used their axes often for fighting, because not all of them had to right to carry a sword. Only high priests, chiefs, jarls and kings could afford expensive imported swords equipped with a good blade made by the Franks. Yet even these higher classes had axes which were richly decorated. Viking fighters had access to domestic swords, but these were rather inferior. Production could also not keep up with the demand for fighting swords. That is why a simple axe was often the weapon used most widely by Viking fighters. The axe was relatively inexpensive, yet it was effective enough. The Vikings used both single-handed and two-handed heavy axes. Both single-handed and two-handed axes had a double type of blade. All lovers of fantasy and admirers of historical weapons, will desire this beautiful piece of iron.
The weapon blade is made of spring steel: CSN 14260 / DIN 1.7103 (6% C, 0.5-0.85 Mn, 1.3-1.6% Si, 0.8-1.05 Cr). The blade is hardened and then fired in forges. The hardness of the blades ranges from 53-55 HRC.
