EdgeRouter Lite is a powerful desktop router made by Ubiquiti under their brand new EdgeMAX product line. It has five Ethernet ports and a 880MHz dual-core processor. The router is suited for small and medium businesses to provide routing in your corporate network. The router guarantees a high throughput of up to 1 million packets per second and reaches 99.9% uptime, making it even more versatile than with some more expensive routers.
The core of this router is a dual-core 880 MHz processor with hardware packet acceleration, which is complemented by 256MB of memory. It is equipped with five gigabit Ethernet ports to connect to the network, and the next port is for administration. One of the router's biggest advantages is the price/performance ratio, which is much higher than the competition.
The EdgeOS operating system, which is a part of the router, is a highly stable system with a variety of useful features. The UI supports IPv6 protocol, static routing, OSPFv3, RIP, and BGP protocols. From security features, it offers ACL and Zone firewalls, NAT, OpenVPN, IPSec and PPTL L2TP protocols. Of course, DHCP, DNS forwarding, and Quality of Service (QoS) services are all included.
The Router offers an intuitive Advanced UI graphical user interface that will help you to control all of the features described above as well as overlooking current status information. Logging events and detailed traffic statistics are also included. The interface is easily accessible through a web browser. Another way the router can be configured is access via serial port and CLI, or via SSH.
