TP-Link EAP787, Omada

TP-Link EAP787, Omada
The TP-Link EAP787 with Omada is a wireless access point featuring the Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standard and tri-band operation. It uses the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz frequencies, offering a combined transmission speed of 12218Mbps. The individual bands operate at speeds of 688Mbps (2.4GHz), 5765Mbps (5GHz), and 5765Mbps (6GHz). For efficient signal distribution and low latency, it integrates a 320MHz bandwidth, Multi-Link Operation (MLO), Multi-RU, and 4K-QAM. The Omada SDN platform provides centralised management of the entire network from a single interface, including access via the cloud and a mobile app.
Key features of the TP-Link EAP787 Omada WiFi Access Point
- Tri-band WiFi 7 reaches speeds of up to 12218Mbps
- MLO, Multi-RU, 4K-QAM, and 320MHz technologies reduce latency
- One 10G/2.5G Multi-Gigabit Ethernet port ensures a fast connection
- The Omada SDN platform enables management via the cloud and a mobile app
- Supports WiFi Mesh and seamless 802.11k/v/r roaming
- Covers up to 190m² and serves over 510 simultaneously connected devices
- Security is provided by WPA3, Access Control, and Captive Portal
Performance and connectivity
The access point uses the Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standard, which operates simultaneously on three frequency bands. The combination of MLO (Multi-Link Operation), Multi-RU, 4K-QAM, and 320MHz bandwidth reduces latency and limits interference for stable network performance. Eight internal high-gain antennas and Beamforming technology direct the signal straight to clients. The internal antennas have a gain of 2× 4.0dBi on 2.4GHz, 4× 5.0dBi on 5GHz, and 2× 5.0dBi on 6GHz.
Mesh network and high-density coverage
The device supports Wi-Fi Mesh technology, which creates a unified network with a single name (SSID). This promotes a smooth transition between access points without connection dropouts, thanks to seamless roaming according to 802.11k/v/r standards. It covers an area of up to 190m² and is designed for high-density client environments, serving over 510 simultaneously connected devices.
Security and connectivity
Wireless network protection is ensured by support for encryption standards including WPA3-Personal and WPA3-Enterprise. The access point also offers older variants like WPA, WPA2, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, WPA-Enterprise, and WPA2-Enterprise. Administrators can use advanced access control features such as Access Control, MAC address filtering, client isolation, network segmentation using VLANs, or Rogue AP Detection. The Captive Portal is used for user authentication in guest networks. The connectivity options include one 10G/2.5G Multi-Gigabit Ethernet port for high-speed connection to the backbone network. Installation and configuration of the device should be entrusted to a qualified person. Before connecting the power adapter, verify its compatibility with your local electrical network.
