Traxxas Spartan SR green

Extremely powerful and fast RC model of the Traxxas Spartan SR 36" boat, with which you will enjoy adrenaline-filled fun. Spoke design, AC drive and electronic stabilisation create an unbeatable combination of precise steering with speeds up to 80 km/h that will leave everyone behind. In the event of a capsize, the boat is now equipped with a self-righting function. The long modern racing boat style hull design incorporates a flood chamber and in the event of a capsize the boat will automatically return to action within seconds. The redesigned component arrangement in the boat not only allows for different centre of gravity positions, but also increases operational efficiency by shortening the shaft length. For efficient heat dissipation from the powerful 6S drive, the motor and controller are water cooled. Spartan is controlled by a steering wheel RC kit equipped with TSM electronic ride stabilization, which facilitates steering at high speeds.

Velineon 540XL marine inverter motor

The Velineon 540XL Marine water-cooled inboard engine has a specially designed cooling jacket in which water circulates. The Velineon 540XML motor has a balanced rotor, high speed bearings (1800 rpm) and a neodymium magnet with high thermal stability. Digital servo drive standard size Traxxas servo 2056 6.2kg. cm waterproof with DC motor and nylon gears has a torque of 6.2 kg. cm and a speed of 0.20 s/60°@ 6.0 V. The servo box is fitted with a gasket for water resistance.

Aluminium fittings, propeller

The 6000 series strength aluminum rudder is blue anodized for an unmistakable look without the worry of corrosion. The screws on the model are also stainless steel. There is a water cooling intake on the front of the helm. Countless hours of testing prototypes and configurations have resulted in a two-bladed composite propeller with the ideal balance of performance, efficiency and durability.

Hull construction

The 36" (92 cm) long hull is made of durable and lightweight ABS vacuumed into a mold. It's built to withstand impacts at high speeds, while its Deep-V shape with sharp lines provides crisp handling and stability. At higher speeds, the hull touches the surface with only a small area, which reduces friction and vibration. The motor and electronics are bolted to the mounting plate, which can be disassembled as a single unit for easy maintenance by loosening the shaft and a few screws.

Flood chamber, trim plates and fins

In the event of the model overturning, the flood chamber will immediately start filling with water through the opening in the upper fuselage. The weight of the water and the foam padding on the opposite side of the bow turns the model back. After adding gas, the water is immediately drained from the chamber. At the rear of the model are installed trim tabs, which are factory set to the neutral position. By bending them slightly you can experiment and change the handling characteristics for more stability, more agile steering, etc.

What is needed to get the model ship up and running

Four AA batteries for the transmitter, two drive batteries and a suitable charger for the drive batteries are needed to make the model work. At the same time, the use of a special grease designed for marine shafts is recommended for normal operation in any case. The model can be operated on a pair of identical two- or three-cell LiPol batteries. For normal riding, a pair of Traxxas LiPo 7.4 V dual-cell batteries with a capacity of 5800 mAh is recommended. If longer travel times are the goal, a pair of Traxxas LiPo 7.4V dual-cell batteries with a higher capacity of 7600 mAh is recommended. For higher performance, a pair of Traxxas LiPo 11.1 V triple-cell batteries with a capacity of 5000 mAh is suitable. To charge batteries, Traxxas universal chargers are recommended, which are compatible with both LiPo and NiMH batteries.The chargers are a simple and safe solution thanks to the Traxxas iD system, which ensures automatic recognition of the connected battery using a chip integrated in the connector and automatic setting of the correct charging parameters. For charging batteries up to 3 LiPo cells, the Traxxas EZ-Peak 50 W single output charger or the Traxxas EZ-Peak 2×50 W dual output charger is recommended. For batteries up to 4 LiPo cells, the more powerful Traxxas EZ-Peak 75 W single output charger is recommended, or the EZ-Peak Live 100 W model, which has one output and Bluetooth connectivity to your phone.
The most powerful option is the Traxxas EZ-Peak Live 2×100 W charger with two outputs and Bluetooth connectivity. For trouble-free operation of the RC model ship, it is recommended to use a special grease designed for lubricating ship shafts. Its formulation ensures smooth and quiet running of the shaft in the Teflon tube and also contributes to the long life of the mechanical components. Traxxas grease is recommended, alternatively Marine grease or a version with a grease gun. After adding a Bluetooth module to the transmitter, the model can be wirelessly connected to the Traxxas Link mobile app, which is free to download. It is recommended to use a phone holder to attach the phone to the transmitter. The application allows clear graphical model setup and display of telemetry data. For a realistic and stylish transport of the ship model, the Traxxas tri-axle trailer for Spartan or DCB M41 models is recommended.
