Show That You Can Survive in a Post-Apocalyptic World
Legacy: Book of Survival is a cooperative story-driven game in which players take on the roles of members of a surviving family. The game offers a campaign divided into five chapters with a total playing time of approximately 12–15 hours. Each chapter brings new game components—parts of the game board, characters, items or story cards. During tests and combat, a karma deck is used, which is built based on the gaming group's choices and subsequently affects the characters' morale, the available actions, the development of the story and the very end of the game. Legacy: Book of Survival is for 1–4 players aged 14 and over. The length of one game is approximately 120–180 minutes.

Turning Over Cards Changes the Course of the Game
Some of the cards in Legacy: Book of Survival describe places, findings or encounters, with symbols on them determining how they are used. Depending on their decisions and events in the scenario, players can turn these cards over to change the game environment, situations, items and characters they encounter during the story.

Action Token System
Players control 4 family characters in the game, each of whom has 3 action tokens—the group then decides the order in which they are used. Some actions can or even must be performed by multiple characters at the same time to maximise their effectiveness. Action tokens placed on a character's head, torso or legs allow them to communicate with other characters, explore their surroundings, move, fight or acquire new equipment.

Equipment Cards Make Actions Easier for Players
Character cards in Legacy: Book of Survival can be combined with equipment cards, whose placement is determined by a system of corresponding symbols. Equipment provides new action options or makes them easier to perform. Between games, players can move equipment or create new items. If a character is injured, they will no longer be able to perform some actions.

Player Decisions Affect the Development of the Legacy Story
Legacy: Book of Survival does not have a fixed turn order. Instead, players follow a 'timeline' of cards that controls the flow of events. The scenarios are pre-written, but player decisions determine how the individual cards move along the timeline and which part of the story they will explore next. This allows the game to offer a strong story-driven experience without the need for a mobile app or other electronic support.
