Become an admirer of the beautiful Princess Annette

In Love Letteryou become an admirer of the beautiful Princess Annette, who is locked up in the palace. Your task is to deliver a love letter to her and win her favour. However, this is not easy, because the princess is surrounded by guards and courtiers. Each turn, you have only one card in your hand representing the person who is currently carrying your letter. You draw a second card and decide which one to play. Each card has a unique ability that you can use to knock out your opponents or protect your letter.

Deliver the letter to the princess first

The love letter game is played on rounds during which you test your allies, friends and members of the royal family by delivering your writing to the princess. The card in your hand represents the person who is currently holding your letter. However, the messenger may change during the game as the cards are unloaded and reloaded. The round ends when there are no cards left in the deck or when only one player remains in the game. The winner is the person who holds the highest value card or is the only one left in the game.

"Classic" Love Letter

With this version of Love Letter you can also play "The "classic" Love Letter, which was designed for 2-4 players. At the beginning of the game just discard 5 cards from the deck, a list of which can be found in the game rules. Another difference from the "classic" version, besides the higher number of cards, is the presence of scoring chips and a cloth bag for storing the game.

History and creators of the game

Love Letter was created by Japanese game designer Seiji Kanai and was first released in 2012. The original version contained only 16 cards, but quickly gained popularity for its simplicity and depth. An expanded edition for 2-6 players was released in 2019, adding new cards and improved graphics. American illustrator Andrew Bosley worked on the illustrations for the new version, known for his work on popular games like Everdell and Tapestry. The game has won several awards, including the Golden Geek Award for Best Card Game.
