Coarse salt for maintenance of the ion exchanger (softener) of dishwashers. Pure 100% sodium chloride, free of iodine, fluorine and anti-caking agents added to common table salt, ensures the presence of sodium, which helps to easily regenerate the ion exchanger. This softening device captures calcium and magnesium ions, thereby softening the wash water and preventing limescale from forming in the dishwasher and on the dishes. Coarse-grained regenerative dishwasher salt takes longer to dissolve in the hopper and does not dissolve as quickly as fine salt. Ion exchanger (softening device) This device works on the principle of ion exchange and is an important part of every dishwasher. It replaces the calcium dissolved in water (the cause of limescale) with sodium. To wash properly, the dishwasher needs soft water with reduced calcium and magnesium content. If the water is hard, the residues of these elements settle on the dishes and the internal parts of the dishwasher. The most commonly used tap water usually has a hardness of more than 7° dH (1.2 mmol/l) and needs to be softened. The regenerative salt added to the dishwasher's salt container is used to soften the water. For perfect washing results, it is important to set the water hardness value precisely according to the manufacturer's instructions for the specific dishwasher. So first find out the exact water hardness value, set the dishwasher according to this value and then pour the regeneration salt into the salt container. The dishwasher already doses salt automatically according to the water hardness setting. Use the Water Hardness Test Strip or contact your water supplier to determine the hardness of your water. It is used to prevent the formation of deposits on dishes and glassware in all types of domestic dishwashers.
