The hobbit Bilbo Pytlík is unexpectedly addressed by the wizard Gandalf Šedý, thanks to whom he finds himself on an adventurous expedition in the company of thirteen dwarfs led by the legendary warrior Thorin. The path leads through mysterious lands, where it is teeming with ogres, goblins and magicians. The goal of the expedition is to reclaim the lost kingdom of the dwarves Erebor from the terrible dragon Šmak. The journey takes them into the Great Wilderness, through a treacherous region full of goblins, orcs and deadly wrecks, as well as a mysterious and sinister figure known only as the Black Mage.
Although the goal of their expedition - Lonely Mountain, lies in the East, they must first go through a cave system, where Bilbo meets someone who will change his life forever… Gluma. And he will also own Glum' s “darling“ ring, which has unexpected and useful options. The simple gold ring is connected to the fate of the whole of Middle-earth in a way that Bilbo cannot even guess at the moment.
The film trilogy is a prequel to the previously filmed Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The extended edition brings unpublished footage from the film (a 13-minute longer film), hours of bonus materials with details about its origin and commentary by filmmakers.
