Tamron is introducing the second generation of its G2 telephoto lens, which follows the footsteps of its successful predecessor, the SP 150-600 F/5-6.3 Di VC USD. This new model boasts an enhanced optical design to achieve even better results. Three Low Dispersion (LD) elements fully eliminate axial and lateral chromatic aberration. The optical system has also seen numerous improvements, currently featuring 21 elements in 13 groups. In addition, it now benefits from innovative manufacturing technology resulting in high-resolution images, superior sharpness, and improved lens performance. This lens has been designed to satisfy the needs of demanding photographers who specialise in ultra-telephoto photography.
The SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di USD G2 offers several new features and innovations. For example, the special eBand nano coating eliminates glare and shadows. This modification also improves light transmission and suppresses internal reflections. Combined with the BBAR finish, both reduce glares and shadows to the very minimum. The minimum focus distance is 2.2m, which is 0.5m less than in the previous model.
The Flex Lock Zoom mechanism allows for quick zoom locking or unlocking in any position by means of a simple rotation of the zoom ring. You can shoot from any angle without the zoom accidentally changing. The system is also useful when transporting the lens, due to it preventing unwanted barrel extension.
The front side of the lens is coated with a protective fluorine layer that repels water and oil. As a result, this will provide for easy removal of dirt, dust, moisture, and fingerprints from the lens with no negative consequences. The entire barrel is also protected with a waterproof seal, allowing for safe outdoor shooting.
