Materials and construction

The tent shell is made of Ripstop 70D polyester with a grammage of 85 g/m². The material is known for its high resistance to abrasion, light and weathering, with low moisture content and good moisture wicking properties. The tent liner is made of 130 g/m² Oxford 210D polyester, which is a durable polyester fabric with a breathable polyurethane coating. The construction of the tent is made of Dural 7001 T6 (Scandium), which is a hardened duralumin alloy that excels in its lightness, durability and flexibility and is used for example in aviation.

Safety first

Although Ferrino tents are made to accommodate as many people as possible, this does not affect their safety. Even in inclement weather, the Ferrino tent liner sewn to the tent's canopy ensures perfect insulation from rain and wind. The fabric from which the tents are made is also waterproof. In addition, the spaces inside the tent are separated by dividers and covered with mosquito nets for protection against nuisance insects.

Equipment and waterproofness of the Ferrino Svalbard 3.0

The tent features a double skin construction with 3 colour coded poles and 2 spacious vestibules that offer plenty of room for equipment storage. The entrance to the inner tent has a mesh opening for better ventilation, which ensures optimal air circulation. Inner pockets provide ample space for storing small items. The water column of the outer shell is 4 500 mm, while the water column of the subfloor is 12 000 mm. Ferrino guarantees the waterproofness of the tent, with a minimum water column at the material joints guaranteed and all seams taped. The water column value per area of material is 1.5 times higher than the specified minimum value, providing a high level of protection against rain.

infobox

Water column

Indicates the resistance of the fabric and seams to water leakage. Indicates the amount of water that the material is able to hold before it begins to leak. The higher the value in mm, the higher the resistance of the tent. Each tent should have a tropical canopy with a water column of at least 2,000 mm, which is approximately the pressure exerted by a raindrop flying at 80-90 km/h. If you want to weather the storm unscathed, a water column of at least 3,000 mm is a better bet. A water column of 5,000 mm is recommended for normal hiking. For more demanding conditions, choose a subfloor with a water column of 8,000-10,000 mm.
