Sparkfun Block is an extension for the Edison electronic kit, made by Intel, the number one producer of desktop processors. It is an ultra-small computer platform that can be used for both entertaining technological experiments and actual design projects. The Intel Edison Breakout Board Kit is powered by an Intel Atom dual-core processor with integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth interface, 1GB RAM, 4GB SSD storage, and all this is carried by a 3.5 x 2.5cm unit.
Edison continues where Intel Arduino left off, so once you have learnt how to design electronic circuits with Arduino, and its performance is no longer enough for you, you can take a step further - and this is the point where Intel Edison awaits you.
This extension will brings eight PWM control channels to your I2C serial bus. Although the PWM output has a large number of possible uses, it was specifically designed to drive up to 8 servo motors in leisure time quality. It has an independent voltage input beyond the standard Edison interface, and the 8 connections can work with almost any servo motor. It is possible to connect it to your building kit and use it immediately.
