This ceramic protective filter from Sigma boasts rugged construction and is designed to protect the camera lens from bumps, scratches, and other damage. This filter boasts high light transmission - up to 99.76%. The actual glass is much harder than chemically strengthened glass and also more flexible than sapphire and thus able to withstand various falls when photographing and prevent the costly process of buying a new lens. The glass surface has WR (water-repellent) protection that repels water, dust and various particles and prevents fingerprint smudges. That is why the ceramic filter can withstand the harshest conditions, which would otherwise cause damage to the front lens element.
