The state-of-the-art Sigma telephoto lens enhances the portability and quality level so you can take a long-distance photo with incredible details while on the ground and without a tripod. Compared to similar lenses, it is compact and lightweight to handle. With a maximum magnification of 1:3.8, it fits into the macro range. For more sensitive control of the wide zoom range, simply adjust the end of the lens by hand. In such an embodiment, the nickname "light bazooka" has been named after the manufacturer, Canon.
Considerable magnification by telephoto usually requires a tripod. But before you lay it down, you will discover the best moment. The presence of a powerful Optical Stabiliser (OS) lets you take your photos directly from your hands, without a tripod, for longer exposure times and with full zoom. With the newly developed gyroscopic sensor with an exclusive algorithm, the OS provides a powerful stabilising effect. The acceleration sensor detects changes in all directions, so the system works even when the portrait orientation is taken.
The optical assembly has been designed to make the lens compact and deliver superior image quality over the entire zoom range. Four glass SLD lenses optimise light distribution, minimise deviations, and mainly transverse aberration that means you do not even need to correlate with the aperture. There are three types of low-dispersion glass - ELD (extra low dispersion), SLD (special low dispersion) and FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) to suppress chromatic aberration. The "Super Multi-Layer Coating" then increases contrast and reduces glare and blur.
