Herrerasaurus was one of the first prehistoric lizards that ruled the country 220 million years ago. He was a dangerous hunter who moved on two legs and had sharp teeth. Herrerasaurus was somewhat small compared to Giganotosaurus and Spinosaurus, who lived much later. Herrerasaurus was only 3 to 4 metres tall. However, his legs were so strong that he could sprint very quickly. The Herrerasaurus had a rather unusual lower jaw that slid back and forth through a flexible joint. This allowed him to better grasp his prey. He was named after Victorino Herrera of Argentina.
