The Quarter horse, also know as the American Cowboy Horse, is one of the oldest American breeds of horses that has been bred since the early 17th century. The name Quarter comes from the "Quarter mile" expression meaning a quarter mile race. In these races, this breed ran faster than other horses, finishing in about 21 seconds. The breed was bred mainly for sports. Other attributes of the breed include speed, ability to work with cattle, intelligence and kindness. Due to its nature, it is also a prefect horse for family rides. A Quarter horse is a horse of smaller stature, but with a heavy structure with good muscles throughout the body. ITs height is between 140 and 150cm. The weight is around 500-600kg.
