You don't have to worry about scratching the surface. The SCANGRIP magnetic bracket is covered with rubber, so no damage will occur. The magnet is made of steel and treated with a powder coating. You attach the lamp to the SCANGRIP bracket using a unique quick-release connector, and the swivel head helps you adjust the lamp to the desired angle.
