but it's a tax for mini-longevity, so it can be tolerated and not pull the bass to the max

For around 1500, I have no complaints. The sound is pleasant, the separate tweeters are noticeable, the mids are clear, and the bass is slightly boomy. It could do with a bit of padding inside, then it would be flawless. There's no L/R marking; the right speaker is the one with the power switch. I would definitely recommend it.

The speakers sound and look great. For the price, you get a lot of bang for your buck. Unfortunately, I had to return them because the sound has a really big delay (latency) when playing via Bluetooth. They weren't usable for watching films in BT mode. If I could have connected them with a cable, I would have kept them. An interesting thing: At first, I was annoyed that after turning on the power switch on the back of the active speaker, the speakers go into stand-by mode and you have to turn them on first (switch to 'on' mode) with the remote control to play anything (you can't wake the speakers from stand-by mode using only the buttons on the speaker itself). This meant you couldn't use the speakers at all without the remote. However, over time, something seemed to change and the next day, the speakers went straight into active 'on' mode after the power was restored. I'd really like to know if they started behaving differently, or if I'm just being stupid. One disadvantage regarding the BT function on these speakers is that you can't end the BT connection from the speakers' end (neither with the buttons on the box nor with the power switch). This means that if you want to connect a new BT device, you first have to disconnect the previous one. So if you want to, for example, disconnect the speakers from your computer and connect them to your phone, you first have to go into the BT settings on your computer and disconnect the speakers (or just turn off the computer). Only then can you connect your phone. So if someone wanted to (say, a sibling, housemate, or the neighbour next door), they could quite effectively block your BT speakers and you'd have to use a cable. Related to this is the fact that the speakers don't distinguish between pairing and connecting, and will happily connect to any BT device that wants to. They also don't have any memory of previously paired (and therefore authorised) devices. The speakers don't have an automatic sleep function, and if they are switched to 'auxiliary' (cable input) or connected to a BT device, they will never turn off by themselves. They only go to sleep when they are in BT mode and not connected to any BT device (pairing mode) - and even then, it takes quite a long time for them to go to sleep. I didn't try the playback function from a USB stick or memory card at all. The active speaker has a classic rocker power switch on the back, which disconnects the speakers from the mains. I praise that. Some other models don't have this at all anymore - for example, the Edifier MR3, which I have right in front of me.

Good for basic sound, good connectivity.
Given their size, both the converters and the boxes have their understandable limitations, but they do their best.
The amplifier does not produce any noise.
The tweeter isn’t a plastic imitation; it’s a genuine 2-way speaker, one of the few in this price range: -) (which is, of course, isolated here by a capacitor.)
It really does look great, and the price is pretty good too.
It inspired me to swap the speaker for a crossover, turn the boxes into satellites (treble and mid-bass) and feed the low frequencies to the subwoofer. I certainly don’t regret buying it.: -)
