If you’re looking for a high-performance charger for your newer Xiaomi or Redmi phone that supports 120W HyperCharge, you’re in for a treat. It performs brilliantly within its own range, even though the modern charging management system constantly adjusts the voltage (on the older Redmi Note 10 Pro, it fluctuates between 4.75 V and 9 V depending on the battery temperature, though this is a technical feature, not a fault).
However, a crucial warning applies to owners of other brands, particularly Samsung. This charger uses a proprietary Xiaomi protocol via a USB-A connector. My Samsung Galaxy A53 completely ignores it and refuses to charge from it, even though it charges without any problems from cheap power banks and other adaptors. Put simply, the phone cannot communicate with the charger and, for safety reasons, disconnects itself.
If you have a mix of devices from different brands at home, you’d be better off looking for a universal charger that supports the USB-PD (Power Delivery) and PPS standards. I’d recommend this exclusively to ‘die-hard’ Xiaomi users.
For Xiaomi/Redmi phones, it offers extremely fast charging (up to 120 W).
The adapter itself is solidly built and of high quality.
It is completely incompatible with Samsung phones (the A53 model refuses to charge for safety reasons).
The 120 W extreme power output only works within Xiaomi’s closed ecosystem, using a specific original cable.
Charging non-Xiaomi phones is a bit of a gamble (they either don’t charge at all, or only very slowly).
