After 11 months of use, it suddenly failed while writing data. Although the claim was approved about five minutes after sending it for assessment and dropping it off at an AlzaBox, instead of the requested exchange for a new unit, I was given a refund – less than half the price of a new one in 08/2026 (the notification cheerfully states, "Great news! We're refunding your money.", while the current price of the HDD is ironically labelled with a massive "Price Bomb" banner). Support claims that an exchange for a new or equivalent replacement is not possible.
The drive originally arrived at the AlzaBox wrapped only in an anti-static foil, but the instructions for returning it for a claim required at least three layers of bubble wrap. It's hard to judge where the actual cause of the fault lies, but the result is that the customer doesn't have their product, has lost their data, their time, and with the refunded money, can only buy a product that's not even half the size – Alza, after years of satisfaction, my user experience has changed diametrically on this day.
Next time, at least wrap it properly so the customer doesn't have to have doubts.
