I already have 10 external drives and they are all from Western Digital. From the first 250 GB from about 2006 to this latest 8 TB from 2018. All the drives I have are still very reliable. Movies, series, audiobooks, personal documents, I have everything carefully backed up and I don't feel like I could ever lose anything. I had one more external drive and it was from Seagate. I should have, but I no longer have, I think that's all that matters.
Compared to the 5 TB it seems slightly noisier. But it's nothing major.
